Time for a Golf Vacation

Friday, January 27th, 2012

It’s been a while since my Husband and I have gone on vacation and we wanted to do something different. This year, we’ve planned a golf vacation – a Myrtle Beach golf vacation. Myrtle Beach is often called “Golftown USA” because of the excellent weather conditions all year round. We found a golf vacation package through a very well known resort. We’ll be staying at Sand Dunes Resort and Spa right on the beach. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about this resort and the deal we got was too good to pass up. They have tons of amenities and accommodations and they even have their own Waterpark just for Sands Resorts’ guests. Before I found out about all the wonderful things to do in Myrtle Beach I wanted to focus on improving my golfing skills but now I’m not so sure its going to be that way. Whatever happens, its going to be fun!

Do You Know Anything About All Inclusive Vacations?

Friday, January 20th, 2012

I am thinking for taking a vacation very soon and the thought of all inclusive vacations sounds really good to me. I like the thought of paying for everything up front, so I only have to pay for extras while on the vacation. The big thing is where to go on my vacation; I have never really been anywhere before, so I am having a really hard time trying to figure out where to go first. Right now, where I live, it is very cold; the weather here makes me want to go somewhere warm. My husband says that he does not care where we go, he will just be happy to get a way for a while. I am going to start jotting down all of the best all inclusive vacations I can find and I guess we will just try to pinpoint something from there. I hope that we are able to pick a spot really soon.

Searching for Saunas

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

Sauna use is an integral part of a spa visit for many patrons. The name comes from an ancient Finnish word that also referred to the traditional Finnish bath as well as the bathhouse itself. The very first saunas were pits dug into slopes in the ground for use as dwellings in winter. Stones were heated to a high temperature in a fireplace before water was poured over them in order to create steam and thus give a sensation of increased heat. Following the industrial revolution, metal wood stoves replaced traditional fireplaces, and Finns also used vhita (bundles of fresh birch twigs) to stimulate the pores and cells further. Over here resorts such as Retallack offer such treatments. The sauna was – and still is – an important part of Finnish daily life (and also many Baltic countries). Due to its cleanliness and the availability of water, Finnish women often gave birth in the sauna.

I Just Returned Home

Friday, July 15th, 2011

I just got back from a long holiday in Antigua, and I had a wonderful time. I stayed at a luxurious villa, and I learned how to go sailing. Every day, I got to walk on the white sands on the beach outside of my villa and watch the waves hit the shore. Now that I am at home, I feel refreshed and ready to work again. My sister just called me up to ask about my trip, and I told her about all of the things that I got to do. She is jealous, because she wants to go to Antigua as well. She works all the time, so she needs a break. I told her to go to www.tropicalsky.co.uk/antigua-holidays.htm in order to find out more about the places that she can stay if she actually decides to take the journey there. After she sees all of the great places that are available, I know that she will want to book a hotel right away.

Researching Your Maine Vacation

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

Preparing for your Maine vacation can seem like a daunting task. With around 5,000 miles of coastline, 6,000 lakes and 32,000 miles of rivers, according to the Maine Office of Tourism, www.visitmaine.com, the state of Maine offers a dizzying array of water related vacation possibilities. Its 17 million acres of forest boggles the imagination with visions of never ending pristine pines.

Whether you decide to visit “Downeast” Maine, coastal southern Maine, the Lakes Region or up to “The County,” your trip needs a focus. Will your theme be art galleries and museums? Boating on the ocean? Perhaps you crave the quiet solitude of an inland lake cabin. Maybe camping and kayaking along the beautiful Saco River with the entire family appeals to you.

When my friends and family are planning a visit to the Midcoast area, I always suggest they include at least a day trip to Sebasco Harbor Resort, in Phippsburg. Cruises around the harbor on The Ruth, which is docked at the resort, are a refreshing delight and the establishment boasts cabins, a lodge and even a lighthouse that you can sleep in.

Once you have settled on the theme for your visit, you will want to consult The Maine Restaurant Association’s Web site, www.mainerestaurant.com. The Association reports that there are over 200 restaurants in Portland alone. The site has reviews for eateries as well as a top ten list which can help you decide where to get the best food and service.

The Maine Tourism Association, www.mainetourism.com, is also another good resource when researching your ME vacation trip. If you are planning well in advance, they have free travel planning guide brochures that you can view online, download or receive printed copies by mail.

Remember, summer is only one of four fantastic seasons with many reasons to visit Maine!

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

York is a fascinating city with a rich and vibrant past, and with attractions like a simulated World War II bunker just outside the city to visit, elaborate cathedral tours, and the remnants of a Viking past, you’ll wish you’d booked your holiday for longer.
