My Son is Going to Learn How to Play Guitar

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Financial Position of the Pension Benefit Guaranty CorporationI want my son to learn how to play guitar. He shows an interest in it but for years we just couldn’t afford the lessons or more importantly the guitar itself. Finally we are in a financial position to get him a guitar and the lessons to learn how to play. He has mentioned it quite a few times over the years and I know he really wants to learn, but he has no idea we are actually going to buy him one. My husband and I have decided this is going to be a birthday gift for him because we want it to be very special and not just a purchase for no reason. I know he’s going to love it and I know my husband and I are going to love the excitement he will get from it. It’s something we have always wanted to do for him and can finally afford it.

Setting Up a Home Studio

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

Bellevue American Music Audio Rentals and Music Equipment RentalsHow do you set up a home studio? Well, you need four things to properly set up a music studio in your home. You first need to look for a room that’s big enough to store all the music equipment that you will need for recording. That way, you know where your musical instruments are stored. You also need to have the best music equipment because you won’t get to create quality music without the equipment. A good music recording program is essential in creating good music. The program must be able to capture the voice of the singer and it must play the captured voice back with great quality and clarity. Last but not the least, you would need to redesign the room that you have selected for your music studio. Ordinary rooms can produce uneven music. Therefore, the structure and the design of the walls in the room should be acoustically treated.

Billy Butler & Chris Buzzelli – Jazz Guitar Music Legends

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Jazz guitar player Billy Butler first began to play the guitar professionally in 1940 with a group called “The Three Tones”. He had taken up the guitar at the age of thirteen and was virtually self taught having taken no formal jazz guitar lessons. Although originally inspired by acoustic guitarists Eddie Lang and George Van Eps, it was the electric guitar sounds of Charlie Christian. George Barnes and Oscar Moore that were to prove to be his major influences.

In 1943 Billy Butler joined the Army and was put into a military band as a drummer. After his discharge he returned to Philadelphia where he was featured with a vocal quartet called “The Harlemaires” from 1947-49. He spent three years with a band called “Daisy May and the Hepcats” and in 1952 formed his own group. It was in 1954 that popular success came to Butler, now regarded as an excellent solo jazz guitar player, when he joined a band led by organist Bill Doggett. They made a hit record called ‘Honky Tonk’ which sold over a million copies. Following on this success Butler stayed with Doggett for almost eight years.

After leaving Doggett, Billy Butler established himself as a successful studio guitarist in New York. He was also very good at jazz guitar improvisation and recorded with many famous artists including Dinah Washington, King Curtis, Johnny Hodges, Jimmy Smith and David ‘Fathead’ Newman. He also played in the pit bands of several Broadway theaters. At the same time he was still involved in making records with jazz artists including Houston Preston (1969-71), Al Casey (1974), and Norris Turney (1975). From 1976 Butler played on a regular basis at USA and European jazz venues.

Jazz guitar player Chris Buzzelli started to play the guitar at the age of ten. Over the years he has studied with Jack Petersen, Denis Sandole, Frank Hipp and classical guitarist Alice Artzt. While still at high school Buzzelli was already working as a professional guitarist and teacher. At the age of 16 he played in the Philadelphia area with many top jazz musicians including saxophonist Richie Cole. After earning two music degrees Buzzelli established himself as a leading guitar teacher and composer of music for student guitar ensembles.

Over the years Chris Buzzelli has appeared in concert and jazz clubs with fellow jazz guitarists Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Tal Farlow, Cal Collins and Joshua Breakstone. He has also played with diverse jazz musicians including Clark Terry, Peter Erskine, Stanley Cowell , Ira Sullivan and Slide Hampton. In 1993 he made the first of his recordings for the Schoolkid’s Record label. Chris Buzzelli is currently Associate Professor of Guitar and Jazz studies at Bowling Green State University, Ohio.

A Good and Honest Online Singing Lesson Review

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

Having recently gone through the Brett Manning singing success program, I wanted to do a singing success review. If you’re looking for a good program to learn how to sing better, whether you are a beginner singer or an advanced singer, this would be a good program for you to take, in my opinion. I found the lessons to be very good and very helpful, and I have been singing as a professional for most of my life. This would also be a great program for a beginner, because this is a step-by-step program that gives the lessons in a way that are very easy to understand but also very profound. I was able to improve my voice and extend my vocal range by taking this program. And as I said, I have been singing as a professional for most of my life. And taking an online singing lesson program like this has other benefits as well.

Greatest Bargain Ever!

Friday, September 16th, 2011

The second hand guitars arrived in excellent condition and incredibly quickly. This really is my second electric guitar I’ve purchased. I’ve been told that it’s better to learn to play with an acoustic guitar, and after you have an electric guitar sit neglected in the corner of my room, I made a decision I needed to get seriously interested in my playing. Mine, however, presently has two tuners that rattle a little sometimes. The second hand guitars look easy but well-crafted. The purpose of this writing is the fact that I realized full well there should some difference, like audio quality maybe, between a total entry level guitar, and something that will cost 2-3 times as much. I purchased this as a present for my daughter who just learned to play guitar, but she’s been enjoying violin for the past 19 years since she was 5. Being so skeptical, I took it to some close by pawn shop near to the house. I purchased this guitar last April.

Reviews and Comparisons Help Us Make Buying Decisions

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

One of the best things the Internet has allowed us to do is to compare products and read reviews from actual product users. For guitar lessons for instance you can read a jamplay review to help you decide if the website is worth the $20 a month they want to charge you for guitar lessons each day.

There are thousands of review and comparison websites out there on the web. Some better then others, so you should take your time to read more then one review of a product or service before you pull out your credit card.

The fact that there is no one policing the web as per se to decide if information provided is factual or not means that some websites can stretch the truth a bit to persuade you to make a purchase or not to make a purchase.

The best defense against scam reviews is to read as many as you can get your hands on and also use large sites like Amazon and other shopping sites when possible.

Ibanez Rg3550mz — It Might Not Make Sense For You

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Is it possible in any way that a guitar so good as the Ibanez RG3550MZ electric guitar will NOT make sense for you? I mean some folks can’t even imagine that someone is suggesting that some players might be better off with such a great guitar. Here are arguments for my position…

i. It wouldn’t make sense for you to spend about $1,500 on a guitar if your credit situation is very poor. It’s good to own a great guitar. However, you should NOT buy another guitar if your finances are in very bad shape. There are more important things in life. Furthermore, you need to be focusing on getting things right than making them worse with an instrument you would be better off buying sometime down the road.

ii. It wouldn’t make sense for a learner to pay so much for a guitar. The simple reason is that you don’t have enough skills at such a time to get the most from this great guitar. And, on the other end, you might actually damage it due to ignorance. Believe me, NO great guitar is really safe in the hands of a noob.

Make Music Theory enjoyable for your piano pupils

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Music Theory can be a real drag for some students. They really feel that it is not where they want to be, and not what they want to do. I often read status updates on Twitter and Facebook from students who feel disillusioned about music theory, and feeling that it is not enjoyable or an activity that they really want to engage in. If they feel that way about it, then inside their knowledge will not be really going in and they won’t be retaining much of what they are learning. They really must have a firm understanding of music theory in order to become excellent musicians later in life. Without the knowledge of theory they will not gain the musicianship of a person who can really master an instrument. What they need is consistent work on Music Theory Worksheets throughout the time of their music learning. IF they can do that, then their musicianship will consistently improve.
